This experiment was designed to evaluate the effects of an aerosol of stable neodymium oxide (Nd2O3) of a known particle size range and concentration on the lungs, other major organs, blood and body weight of mice and guinea pigs when administered over various periods of time up to 120 days.nIn order to accomplish this an inhalation system was constructed, and the aerosol produced was characterized concerning its particle size and concentration. The final experimental design was the outgrowth of a pilot intratracheal injection experiment conducted on guinea pigs and rats.
