THE DIELECTRIC STRENGTH OF PRESSED LEAD AZIDE

The dependence of the dielectric strength of lead azide on a variety of physical variables, such as density, crystal size, ambient air pressure, and electrode surface dimensions, was determined experimentally. A model for the breakdown process in pressed lead azide is presented.nThe study of the breakdown variables and the elucidation of the breakdown mechanism in lead azide is also important in obtaining an understanding of its spark sensitivity.
