摘要

The Fe (II) and Fe (III) concentrations were maintained essentially constant by incorporating large excesses of these reactants in the respective solutions. The course of the reduction of Np (V) and of the oxidation of Np (IV) was followed by using a Cary spectrophotometer to monitor the decrease or growth, respectively, of the intense absorption peak of Np (V) at 980 nm. Precise measurements of the kinetics of the Np (V) + Fe (II) = Np (IV) + Fe (III) reactions were made in nitrate solutions. The forward and reverse rate constants, hydrogen ion dependence,' temperature dependence, ionic strength effects and nitrate ion influence were determined.
