The following topics are discussed: use of high-resolution NMR spectroscopy for studies on naturally occurring biological molecules; cross-polarization magic-angle techniques; transfer of magnetic polarization from an abundant magnetic nucleus, exp 1 H, to a less abundant nucleus, exp 13 C, via the thermal reservoir; high-resolution exp 13 C spectra for membrane constituents of bacterial cells; high-resolution exp 13 C spectra for canine tendon, bovine tendon, and mouse tail, lipid mobilities in various tissue states; comparison of mobility of collagen in canine tendon with that of bovine tendon and rat skin; and measurement of exp 13 C natural abundance spectra for several polycrystalline and amorphous biomolecular materials.
