Aircraft Impact Risk Assessment Data Base for Assessment of Fixed Wing Air Carrier Impact Risk in the Vicinity of Airports

The purpose of this report is to describe the data base for the estimation of fixed wing aircraft impact probability at nuclear power plant sites in the vicinity of airports, and to provide a single, compact source of information to assist in reviews of fixed wing aircraft hazards. This data does not cover the hazards from all types of air carrier operations (i.e., helicopter, dirigible, etc.). The accidents occurring to U.S. air carriers during the years 1956 through 1977 are listed, with those resulting in impact within five miles of airports in the contiguous U.S. being considered in detail as to location of impact relative to the airport runways.
