Parametric Excitation of Non-Resonant Ion Cyclotron Quasi-Mode.

Parametric excitation of non-resonant ion cyclotron quasi-mode in a low density (i.e.,omega /sub pi/equal to or approximately omega /sub ci/) plasma is observed when the pump frequency is omega sub 0 >or approximately 2omega /sub ci/. The ion heating associated with the decay is also observed. Such processes may take place near the plasma surface during ICRF heating experiments in tokamaks. (ERA citation 03:056180)
