In the development of the Liquid Metal Fast Breeder Reactor, a major safety problem concerns the suppression of the sodium oxides aerosol particles produced during a hypothetical core disruptive accident. Some theoretical calculations are presented concerning sonic agglomeration rates of such a system in terms of acoustic frequency, intensity and particles. The information is useful in providing some guidelines for the evaluation and design of sonic systems for LMFBR emergency applications. (ERA citation 05:017704)
