摘要

It is generally accepted that the critical organ for exposure to cadmium is the kidney. Considerable attention has been devoted to estimates of the maximum level of cadmium that can be sequestered in human kidneys before overt renal damage occurs. This threshold value is referred to as the critical concentration. In order to obtain more data on the dose-effect relationship of cadmium deposition in human beings, a study was undertaken of occupationally exposed workers at a cadmium production plant. The in vivo measurements of kidney and liver cadmium are the major focus of this study and provide the basis for estimating the critical concentration of renal cadmium. (ERA citation 05:026446)
