Brief Reconnaissance Studies for the Addition of Hydropower in Puerto Rico. Report No. 2

Nine dams and hydroelectric sites were visited during a trip to Puerto Rico in August 1983. Seven brief reconnaissance reports were prepared to describe the hydroelectric potential at those sites. Information on Isabela Plant No. 4 was summarized, and a small diversion dam on Rio Turabo was not reported because the only head that could be developed was four feet. Site description and data, plant characteristics and power potential, project economics, and photographs are included for each site. Of the seven sites that were evaluated, the economic feasibility of hydroelectric development was positive for three, marginal for one, and negative for three. (ERA citation 09:009573)
