Temple University Mid-Atlantic Long Term Care Gerontology Center Final Report

The text is organized around the major objectives of the Mid-Atlantic Long-Term Care Gerontology Center (MALTCGC) at Temple University as established by the Administration on AGing (AoA). The Center was designed to develop and implement long-term care initiatives for the elderly through education, research, technical assistance, model practice sites, and dissemination of information. Certificate programs at the Center are identified and conferences, symposia, and continuing education programs are detailed. The development of rural county-wide coordinated systems as well as practice models for urban and suburban communities where the density of the older population demands a highly coordinated system of services at multiple sites is described. Research programs such as the Ethnic/Minority Aging Project, the Pennsylvania Pre-Admission Screening: Formative Evaluation Study, and the Discretionary Research Program are discussed. Technical assistance projects such as the Pennsylvania Long-Term Care Assessment and Management Program (LAMP) and the National Long-Term Care Channeling Demonstration are reported. Community presentations and media projects are noted and materials developed and disseminated by the Center are listed. Finally, the status of the Center is discussed and sources, purposes, and amounts of external funding for the Center are identified.
