摘要

The performance of pumps under two-phase flow conditions drastically degrades compared to that of single-phase flow. The mathematical foundation, developed by one of the authors for non-condensable gas/liquid pump flows, is now extended to the condensable gas/liquid flow case. The results obtained with the newly developed theory com¬pared well with existing test data for both mixed and radial flow pumps. The mechanism of head degradation was further clarified in relation to the gas condensation, centrifugal force and slip between two phases.nThis report serves as an Executive Summary for the work mentioned above under EPRI Contract No. RP 2290-1.
