PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF ANALLYTIC PLATFORM SYSTEMS – FY 63

This report contains a compilation of the efforts of RCA, Eclipse-Pioneer and the Army Missile Command for FY 63 in the analytic platform field. Included is an industry search to determine the state-of-the-art for all phases of the analytic platform scheme. Of the numerous instru¬ment schemes devised for the analytic platform, five were selected for analysis. After preliminary analysis, it was: determined that an analytic platform using state-of-the-art components was feasible for missiles having a range of 300 nautical miles or less.nAppendix A contains equations for the Kinematics of Rotat¬ing Co-ordinate Frames and demonstrates several methods of co-ordinate transformations including the use of Euler angles, the four parameter representation of quaternion and Cayley-Klein parameters and a vector representation of the missile's velocity vector.nAppendix B contains tables showing error sources, trajec¬tory parameters and instrument orientation as determined during the analysis.
