摘要

The redox and acid-base properties of iodine in three oxidation states (+ 1.0 -1) have been studied in acidic molten aluminum chloride-butylpyrdinium chloride system at 40 deg C. Iodine dissolves in the ionic liquid in the molecular form (I2) and can be oxidized to iodine (+I) forming iodine monochloride molecules (ICI) or reduced to iodine (-I) which, depending on AI2CI-7 concentration, exists as AICI3I(-) or AI2CI6(-) ions. Iodine chloride is a strong oxidant in the acidic melts and is slowly reduced by the solvent. The equilibrium constant for the reaction I(+I)+I(-I)=I2 is nearly independent of the melt composition and equals to circa 1 x 10 to the 13th power cu dm/mol. (Author)
