Photovoltaic systems in agriculture: an economic analysis of investment in central Italy.

During the last years, Italy is facing a major interest to photovoltaic (Pv) systems, thanks to the introduction of a new incentive tool ("Conto Energia"), and to the major sensibility of people to the negative environmental impacts of fossil resources. Furthermore, the recent kalian legislation encourage the spreading of Pv technologies in agriculture considering power produced by Pv systems as an agricultural activity. In this way the concept of multifunctionality in agriculture is integrated with the photovoltaic energy production. The main objective of this work is to evaluate of the introduction of Pv technologies into farms or agricultural activities (central Italy). The paper is divided into two parts. The first part present the Pv systems diffusion at national and international levels. The second part present an economic analysis concerning the Pv plants application in the farms.
