Variations in Haploid Embryonic Bodies within the Megaspores of Isoetes L. (Lycopsida)

The variations noticed in the abnormal embryonic structures present within the megaspores of Isoetes collected from the state of Rajasthan, India have been described. Free floating nucleated cells of the spore content produce apogamous and abortive embryoids which show very little differentiation of organs. These are comparable to the embryoids initiated from a callus in an artificial culture of a haploid cell / cells in the laboratory.
