Dow & SCG JV Launches Production At Thai Specialty Elastomers Plant

Midland—Dow Chemical Co. said its equally-owned joint venture with Siam Cement Group (SCG) has started up a new specialty elastomers plant in Thailand. In 2008, the two companies established a new venture to undertake construction of a facility in the Asia Industrial Estate in Rayong to produce "some of the most technologically advanced plastomers and elastomers in the world" (PCN, 28 July 08, p 2). At that time, Dow said production would include Affinity polyolefin plastomers and Engage polyolefin elastomers. Capacity has not been disclosed.
