PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tie down device which is quickly arrested by a tie down rail while a strength of a lower part of a housing being increased, and an elevator equipped with the tie down device.SOLUTION: A tie dowm device comprises a housing 8c which is so guided along a tie down rail 8a as to be vertically movable and has inclined surfaces 8b which face each other with a guide part 8i of the tie down rail 8a interposed therebetween and are divergently opened upwards in a direction of separating from the guide part 8i, and a wedge 8d which is located between the guide part 8i and the inclined surface 8b and can be frictionally engaged with the guide part 8i, and further comprises an elastic body 8i which elastically energizes the wedge 8d by pressing the wedge 8d from above.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
