The bio-pesticides en to mo pathogenic fungi viz., Metarhizium a it is op I me and Beauveria bassiana were selected and tested for the ovicidal and pupicidal activity against filarial vector Culex tritaeniorhynchus. Dry conidia of Metarhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana were supplied from Mani dharma Bio-tech private limited, Chennai. The ovicidal and pupicidal activity was performed in laboratory condition. In Ovicidal activity Zero hatchability (100% mortality) was attained at the concentration of 20ppm at the age of mosquito eggs > 9-12 hours and 20,40 ppm at the age of eggs > 12-15 hours and 20,40,60 ppm at the age of mosquito eggs > 15-18 hours for B. bassiana and 20 ppm at the age of mosquito eggs > 12-15 hours and 20,40 ppm at the age of eggs >15-18 hours for M. a/tfropliae. The control group eggs shows 98% hatchability. Pupicidal activity of B. bassiana the LC_(50) values was 24.14 ± 1.05 at 3.0 x 10~7 conidia/ml and the pupicidal activity of M. anisopliae the LC_(50) values was 13.23 ± 0.44 at 4.7 x 10s conidia/ml against Cx. tritaeniorhynchus. From the ovicidal and pupicidal activity, the B. bassiana was found to be more effective than M. anisopliae. The results indicated that M. anisopliae and B. bassiana against ovicidal and pupicidal activity of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus make these entomopathogenic fungi as an alternative to synthetic insecticides in mosquito control programme.
