摘要

A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Bhavanisagar, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University during kharif season of 1997 to evaluate the bioefficacy of metolachlor in turmeric CV. BSR 1. The experimental soil is a sandy loam with a pH 7.2 and EC 0.3 dSm~(-1). The trial was laid out in a Randomised Block Design replicated four times. The treatments were pre - emergence application of metolachlor 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 kg ai ha~(-1) compared with fluchloralin at 1.5 kg ai ha~(-1) withone hand weeding on 40 days after planting, hand weeding thrice, and unweeded control. The results revealed that metolachlor at 1.0 kg ai ha~(-1) + one hand weeding on 40 DAP recorded optimal weed population and weed control efficiency without any croptoxicity and recorded the highest rhizome yield followed by hand weeding thrice compared to other herbicides.
