Continued relevance of insecticides in controlling Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) bollworm on cotton on Andhra Pradesh

Fourteen insecticides of three doses were evaluated under laboratory conditions for their relative efficacy against resistant Helicoverpa larval population at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Lam, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh during 2000-2001 season. Commonly used insecticides chlorpyriphos, endosulfan, thiodicarb and new molecules, spinosad, indoxacarb and emamectin exhibited very high efficacy even at recommended dose. Further, quinalphos, profenofos and triazophos also were promising with enhanced activity at higher dose. While, acephate remained moderately active irrespective of the dosage.
