Biomonitoring studies are providing critical information for scientists trying to better understand chemical exposure, and lawmakers should boost support for such research as part of TSCA reform, experts told a Senate subcommittee at a Feb. 4 hearing on chemical exposure."The importance of biomonitoring cannot be underestimated," said Linda Birnbaum, director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the National Toxicology Program. "It can tell us three things - whether exposure to humans is actually occurring, at what levels, and how widespread the exposure is in the population."
