Bolivia's President Morales,who assumed office in December 2005 with a promise to curb foreign control of the country's oil and gas resources,began nationalising Bolivia's oil and gas assets on 1 May 2006.By the end of the day,the military and Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB),Bolivia's state-owned energy company,were reported to have seized control of 53 installations,including oil and gas fields,pipelines and refineries.
