Mild weather throughout 2014/2015 coupled with key buyers' high inventories combined with ample supply, pushed spot LNG prices downwards over the period. The drop was further aggravated by the fall in global oil prices. Whilst at the start of 2014 LNG spot prices in north-east Asia enjoyed levels around the $19/1,000 Btu mark, prices have remained below $10/1,000 Btu throughout 2015. With further supply anticipated these prices are unlikely to return to 2011-2013 levels any time soon.
