Top 10 opportunities for oil and gas

The top 10 opportunities in the oil and gas industry are the result of qualitative, open-ended conversations with 82 oil and gas executives in 15 countries as part of Ernst & Young's global multi-sector survey. The opportunity ladder shown in Figure 1 presents a snapshot of the findings. The ladder is divided into four sections representing drivers of competitive success. The opportunities at the top of the ladder are those that the commentators and executives interviewed thought would have the greatest impact on oil and gas companies' performance in the years ahead. Arrows indicate whether the executives thought the potential performance impact of the opportunity would rise or decline by 2013.
