Majors eye Qatar's al-Shaheen field

The majors are keen to replace Danish firm Maersk at Qatar’s 300,000 b/d al-Shaheen field when its production-sharing contract (PSC) expires in mid-2017. State-owned oil company QP revealed in May that it would tender al-Shaheen rather than renew Maersk’s PSC. ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, BP and Total have prequalified to bid for the field, as well as Maersk and US independents Occidental Petroleum and ConocoPhillips.
