Eni upbeat on Kashagan start-up

Italy’s Eni is playing down concerns that it could take up to two years to restart production at Kazakhstan’s 11bn bl Kashagan field,following the discovery of cracks in the field’s gas pipeline and possibly the crude pipe-line to onshore processing facilities (WPA,31 January,p9).Eni,which is leader of the first phase of the project with a 17pc stake,expects the dam-aged gas pipeline to be repaired by the middle of this year.
