Lebanon joins east Mediterranean race

Lebanon plans to launch its first explora- tion licensing round on 2 May as it looks to join its east Mediterranean neighbours in exploiting the region’s vast offshore hydrocarbons potential. A pre-qualification round for Leba- non acreage will start on 1 February, with a list of qualifying companies to be released on 31 March. The licensing round was initially planned for the first quarter of last year but was delayed pend- ing appointments to the country’s petro- leum administration (WPA, 6 July, p6).
