Angola’s sub-salt bears fruit

Initial drilling results in Angola’s new offshore sub-salt deposits show a poten- tial new oil and gas producing region. US independent Cobalt International says a test well at its Cameia 1 sub-salt discovery in block 21 flowed at 5,000 b/d of 44°API oil and 14mn ft3/d (144mn m3/yr) of gas. Cameia is one of Angola’s first sub-salt wells and has the potential to produce over 20,000 b/d.
