Canadian Pacific coast projects in the balance

Malaysian state-owned energy firm Petronas is pushing for tax and regulatory incentives for its Canadian Pacific Northwest LNG project, warning that the scheme - with associated costs of $30bn - could stall without them. Petronas is “encouraged by the commitment” shown by the British Columbia provincial government with an agreement to work towards a final investment decision by mid- December. But its implied threat to walk away from the project remains, because of cost issues.
