Ukraine crisis poses economic growth risk—IMF

The IMF expects stronger global eco-nomic growth this year and in 2015.But the turmoil in Ukraine poses risks,par-ticularly if oil and gas flows are dis-rupted,it says in its April 2014 World Economic Outlook(WEO). The IMF expects the global econ-omy to grow by 3.6pc this year and by 3.9pc in 2015,up from 3pc in 2013(see table).These projections are down slightly from the IMF’s estimates in January(WPA,24 January,p9).The crisis in Ukraine has taken a toll on the Ukrainian and Russian economies,and had negative spillover effects on other parts of the former Soviet Union.
