UK independent Premier Oil is reassessing development options for the Sea Lion discovery offshore the Falkland islands (Islas Malvinas), pushing the likely date for first oil beyond 2017. A floating production storage and offloading vessel is a viable option, but a tension leg platform may be a better solution for technical and cost reasons, according to Premier. The firm plans a final investment decision for the end of 2014 and says an interval of three and a half to four years is likely between the final investment decision and production start-up, meaning first oil in mid-2018 at the earliest.
