The Chinese government has intervened to stem falls in retail gasoline and diesel prices, citing the need to curb consumption and cut pollution. Economic planning agency NDRC was due to cut prices of gasoline and diesel by nearly 200 yuan/t ($3.70-4.10/bl) on 16 December, as part of the agency’s pricing mechanism and in line with the fall in global crude prices.
