Old grove, new potential

Last year over 45 million pounds of native pecans were harvested in the United States worth over 60 million dollars. The good prices from the past year have generated a lot of interest in pecan production. I receive several calls each week fromfolks wanting to get into the pecan business and benefit from these prices. Many of these individuals are specifically interested in planting new orchards while others are looking to manage existing native groves. New plantings are great investments forthe future for both the growers and the industry.
