Foreign body aspiration is common in children andrepresents an important cause of morbidity and mortality. We report a rare sequence of events leading to tooth aspirationin an 11-year-old boy, with important educational messages.CS is an 11 years old boy, who was entirely well until August 2007, when a productive cough commenced. After a few days he developed fever and was treated with amoxicillin with defervescence, but he had a persistent cough, worsening during physical activity.Chest examination was always normal. He showed no subsequent improvement of his respiratory symptoms despite treatment with inhaled steroids, bronchodilators, mucolytics, and oral clarythromycin. He was referred in October 2007, when physical examination was unremarkable. However a chest X-ray revealed a foreign body consistent with a tooth in the right bronchus intermedius, with air trapping in the lower lobe (Fig. 1).
