Environment degradation threatens development: UN official

ENVIRONMENTAL degradation is threatening to reverse the gains made on the economic development front even as many regions, especially Asia, are witnessing good growth, a United Nations official said recently. UN resident co-ordinator and UNDP resident representative Lise Grande also said environmental sustainability is emerging as a major challenge for economic growth. She was speaking at the 'India Sustainability Conclave 2013' organised by industry body Ficc.
