Non-destructive Z-direction testing of paper products

Coventional destructive techniques have been employed for many years by paper makers to assess the strength properties of materials and provide inferential data on product quality. Non-destructive ultrasonic measurements have also been used to assess the elastic properties of the in-plane or CD /MD directions of paper using, for example, a TSO tester.
