Smurfit Kappa - Townsend Hook Mill upgrade

The decision to close the two existing linerboard machines at Snodland Mill, and install a single replacement machine (obtained from the Cadidavid liquidator in 2011) has been brought forward. Originally the old machines were to be closed next year, with the new machine becoming operational in Q1 2015. Now the company has decided to shut the current machines on 1 July 2013, bringing the start date for the new machine forward to Q4 2014. The new machine will have a capacity roughly equivalent to the combined output of the two current machines (250,000tpy), but being of a modern design it will be more efficient, and is designed to produce modern lightweight grades.
