September saw little change in prices for graphic papers across Europe. Within the UK, the only movement was another small downward adjustment in prices of coated woodfree papers. The changes were the third in successive months with an overall decline of around the 3% mark for both reels and sheets through the third quarter of the year. The fall in domestic price levels contrasted with a slight uptick in prices within other European markets at the start of Q3. The increase reflected a price push by suppliers but was only marginal – at only 0.4% for reels and 1.6% for sheets – due to the long term problem of over-supply within the sector. Suppliers had sought hikes of between 6-8% back in June.
