摘要

VAI has developed a new continuous temperature monitoring system for metallurgical vessels. It works on the basis of infrared radiation being emitted from the steel melt and transmitted to a processor by means of an optical system. Existing process lances allow for direct access to the steel melt. The only requirement for direct measurement of the liquid steel temperature is an open lance tip. This new system has been tested under industrial conditions in KMS, AOD and LD converters as well as in vacuum degassing vessels. Compared to conventional methods, the possibility of continuously measuring the temperature during the whole steelmaking process is not only a great advantage but furthermore provides highly accurate temperature results during the entire heat cycle. This new system offers considerable potential for improved process control in steelmaking.
