The new SeverCorr steel mill, which is under construction in the USA, will be one of the world's most modern and largest facilities for the production of high-grade automotive sheet. The Russian-American joint venture focuses on the automotive producers located in the local area as target customers for its flat steel products. Construction has been proceeding swiftly since groundbreaking in October 2005 on the greenfield site in Columbus, Mississippi. All key production facilities, from steelmaking through to the galvanizing line, are supplied by the plant engineering company SMS Demag AG.
