摘要

"People don't have to have the same politics, the same religion, or speak the same language to work together and to have an impact," observed former President Bill Clinton in his closing remarks at the fifth annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City late last month. "We all have things to learn from each other," he said. "What we need is a shared mechanism to achieve common goals." Indeed, one such mechanism is the forum that his foundation has provided via the Clinton Global Initiative, established in 2005, which brings together leaders in government, nonprofits, business, religion, philanthropy, the arts, and other areas. Members don't just meet and greet; they make specific promises to work together collaboratively to takeaction on world problems.
