This article discusses garbage auditing techniques used to measure the effectiveness of recycling efforts at the University of Oklahoma. Recycling programs are usually evaluated based on the sheer volume of material they recapture, but they can only really be measured by tracking the amount of recyclable material that remains uncaptured in the waste stream.
