Young adults who are just starting out in life tend to spend much of their time in nondescript apartments and drab workplaces. The window treatments in such locales are often unremarkable and can give future homeowners lifelong misconceptions about that product category, according to Jason Hohensee, marketing manager at Skandia Window Fashions. Hohensee said blinds and shades used to come in two not-so-different colors: white and off-white. But customers today can choose from a dizzying array of hues, patterns and materials.
