Cu-catalysed N-arylation of hydrazines with bismuthanes: Synthesis and pinacol or imino-pinacol coupling of 4-formylphenylhydrazines and their phenyllimine derivatives

Acetal protected 4-formylphenylbismuthane was prepared and used for arylation of trisubstituted hydrazines. Formylphenylhydrazines. obtained after removal of acetal group, were used in coupling reaction to give diols containing two substituted hydrazino moieties and the coupling of corresponding phenylimide derivatives gave corresponding diamines.
