The beta-pleated sheet is a vital structural motif for all-beta-proteins [1] and for many currently most investigated bioactive compounds,such as peptide nanotubes [2],bioengineered transmembrane proteins (TMPs) and peptide-based ion channels.[3] The numerous potential applications of these compounds include rational development of antiviral,antibacterial therapeutics,liposome-mediated drug delivery,or the design of novel biosensors.
