摘要

REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is characterized by loss of the normal atonia of REM sleep, associated with dream-enactment behavior [1], RBD is often a precursor of alpha-synuclein-mediated neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD), Lewy body dementia (LBD) and multiple system atrophy (MSA) [1]. Over 50% of patients with idiopathic RBD will eventually develop one of these disorders, often more than a decade after RBD commences. This long interval and high disease risk provide an ideal opportunity to observe "preclinical" stages of neurodegeneration. In particular, studying patients with RBD can help identify and test markers of early neurodegenerative disease [2].
