Comment on the article 'effect of an intra-oral nasal dilation appliance on 3-D nasal airway morphology in adults' by G.D. Singh and M. Abramson.

The article "Effect of an intra-oral nasal dilation appliance on 3-D nasal airway morphology in adults" by Singh and Abramson in my opinion appears to be seriously flawed based largely on unjustified assumptions. In the first paragraph in the "Results" subheading, the authors say that, after insertion of the nasal dilation appliance, the mean nasal volume increase failed to reach statistical significance. Then, not using scientific evidence but mathematical calculation (principal components analysis), they came up with their result of a 27-28% increase in nasopharyngeal airway volume as a result of nasal dilation.
