摘要

Habitual sleep curtailment appears to be on the rise.1 Daily sleep time has decreased by 1 hour over the past 40 years.2 Fifteen percent of respondents in a recent National Sleep Foundation survey of American adults indicated that they slept less than 6 hours on weekdays, and 10% reported that they slept less than 6 hours on weekends over the past year.3 A variety of factors appear to be responsible, including increasing occupational demands and the 24-hour availability of entertainment.4
