摘要

The Ikedas enjoy a close-knit relationship with co-op members and manager. Tom Ikeda and his family have farmed in the Arroyo Grande Valley of California for three generations. Tom operates Ikeda Brothers, along with his uncle, Kazuo; his cousins, Stan, Vard, and James; and his nephew, Brycen. The Ikedas grow 18 crops on 700 acres, specializing in romaine lettuce, Chinese napa cabbage, baby bok choy, parsley, celery, broccoli, spinach, and head lettuce. Tom, 52, earned a degree in ag science and management at University of California, Davis, and returned to farm with his family in the early 1980s. He's vice president of operations. Stan, a graduate of Cal Poly, handles the crop harvesting. Brycen, the fourth generation, joined the business five years ago, after graduating from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
