This Nov./Dec. issue culminates a tumultuous year of surprises and uncertainty in sports, trade, the environment, and politics. Yet industry remains a steadfast stronghold and optimism prevails. How do you define an optimist? Glass half full? How do you define an extreme optimist? A Chicago Cubs fan. Cubs enthusiasts have cheered and groaned, jumped to their feet with excitement and slumped back with disappointment, toasted to a W and drowned a loss in a beer ... and sighed "next year ..." for 107 years. Finally, Cubs devotees were rewarded with the World Series win in 2016. The storied Chicago Cubs victory could not have been a more of a roller coaster ride.
